Untitled c. 1994
Mama told me I had what it took
Daddy said I’d break hearts
They were certain I’d be alright
I guess their expectations played the part
I grey up but never was happy
my soul was black and blue
Like my body it was beaten
for a love that wasn’t true
I just pretended til the day he was gone
and I journeyed out into the sun
No book could have taught what I needed to learn
When you’re playing with fire
you’re bound to get burned.
